"Lovely introduction to Estonian Food"
Mariel was friendly and informative. She led us through the old town to the markets and beyond. She fully explained each of the foods we tried. And there was plenty (we actually shared our tastes and there was still left overs for us to take home). We finished back in the old town for dessert. Before she left us she gave us an exhaustive list of places to see and places to eat.
Just fabulous.
"Talin food tour"
Mariel was very warm, pleasant, professional, knowledgeable and accommodating tour guide. We had amazing experience with her during our food tour day. We were large group and it was not easy to please us :) But she did an amazing job!
Absolutely loved our food tour with Mariel and will definitely recommend her to anyone
"Learning about Estonia through food"
Excellent tour in the Kalamaja area, visiting the Balti Jamaal Turg market and the Telliskivi Creative district. This was a great introduction to Estonian produce, foods and drinks with plenty of different stops to try a variety of foods. Hanna was a great guide, really easy company and willing to answer all my questions about the culture and history of Estonia. I had a really good time in her company and enjoyed all the foods and drinks that I tried. La Moo ice cream was a great place to end the tour!
"Great food and a great time"
First off Maibel is the best. She took us around to multiple places that we would not have explored and tried great foods along the way. Maibel is a historian so she knows and appreciates what she it talking about. We started in the Balti Jaam Market food hall with some meats at a small shop. Next was some meat and fruit pies that were so large we shared them. They were phenomenal. We tried the curds, but they were over all not to our tastes, but we could appreciate them. We went to a place close by for the best tomato soup ever eaten. Next up was Herring at a local place. to finish off we had 2 desserts: La Muu ice cream and then a cream and berry dessert. It was wonderful, tasty and enlightening. Loved every minute.
"Eating Tallinn with Igor"
It was our guide's first food tour - and he did a great job! We ate our way through Tallinn market, a Soviet style canteen, Hipster heavan in Telliskivi & finished with desert and Vana Tallinn at "Pööbel". Friendly Igor spoke impecable English and knew absolutely everything - we had a wonderful time!
"Discovering Kalamaja and Estonian food"
First, Loviise is a wonderful guide, has perfect English and is very enthusiastic :-)
Second, the places she took us were interesting and gave a good overview of what Estonians like / used to eat. Maybe in the future you could also include or offer a local beer, especially with the hot meal.
And, Pööbel was fine, but not really in Kalamaja ...
All in all, we really enjoyed this discovery trip!
"Excellent!"
Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly.
"An interesting Meander"
It's was an interesting Meander through the town. For a lactose intolerant eater it was a difficult journey but our engaging young guide turned a testing evening into a lovely exploration of tastes and places.
"A great day in Estonia "
Such a fun and filling way to experience the culture of Estonia. Helen was amazing and made our day even better!! Thanks for the “Kama”it was our favorite. Can’t wait to make this at home. Helen has such love for her country and knowledge of the culture.
"An excellent guide"
Hanna our guide went truly out of her way to make our tour both interesting and exciting. She shared many of her own experiences that helped us understand better both the food and culture of Estonia as well as life in Tallinn. We strongly recommend this tour with Hanna.
"Great local food tour"
Great Tour. Nice local scout. 👍👍👍
"Food Tour as a result of locations and history"
We learned a lot about the historical stories, the estonian people and how all this influenced the food. Furthermore we discovered new places and how estonians are living.
We strongly recommmend this tour.
"Be sure you're hungry...then enjoy"
Interesting, informative and enjoyable food tour. From markets to restaurants to food stalls...tgis tour takes you on an Estonian/Russian exoerience. Highly recommend.
"Surprisingly brilliant tour"
Six of us did the tour on Monday with the wonderful guide, Mia. Young but incredibly knowledgeable and engaging, Mia took us under the skin of Tallinn and we tried Russian food (soup and the ubiquitous potato salad), fabulous ice cream, different meats and bread, flavoured cream cheeses, fish salad, a traditional dessert and liqueur! All for €49 in 3.25 hours. Great value and we learnt so much about Estonian history as well as food traditions and local delicacies. We would never have found the food halls which were well worth a visit- we revisited for street food lunch the following day! Highly recommend the tour.
"Eat your heart away! "
The food tour was great...Helen was not only tried her best to explain about food but also gave an interesting overview of Estonian Culture...restaurants/eateries selected for the tour were great too... overall it was fun and would definitely recommend it to every first time
visitor.
"Five very different food stops through an up and coming neighbourhood - we were very full!"
We were the only two on this tour with Helen, a friendly, outgoing and knowledgeable guide. We enjoyed blinis with whitefish roe, sour cream and sprats at Poppy Seeds, followed by a very filling visit to the pastry shop where we had TWO huge pastries each! The next stop was a main meal with chicken and pork shashlik in a Russian pub - quite an experience. Very very full now, we visited a renovated market to buy some Kalev sweets to take home. The last stop was at a modern pub where we enjoyed a typical dessert made of ground grain, berries and whipped cream washed down by Vana Tallinn liqueurs.
This was a good tour seeing a Tallinn suburb where we observed regeneration sympathetic to local character and went to eateries we would not have visited on our own.
We thought that the food was good, though I have to say that the pastries at the second stop were too much!
Heleen was a lovely, outgoing and sociable young woman - our experience was enhanced by her enthusiasm and interest in us.
"Great culinary experience "
We had a really great afternoon taking this food tour.
We got lots (really lots, we couldn't even finish everything) of great, tasty food and got to know a lot about Estonian cuisine and culture. Beside this, it was also a lot of fun. Our guide Nils was really open and friendly and answered all our questions and we had interesting conversations with him and our fellow tourists. It was really like a interesting pub crawl (or better 'restaurant crawl') with a nice local guide. We would definitely recommend the tour to everyone who visits Tallinn!
"Great Food Tasting Tour"
"Good eats in Estonia"
Our guide Lina (sp?) Took us to 6 different places. We had a wide variety of Estonia food. From pastries and desserts to appetizers to main meals it was all wonderful.
But what made the tour even better was Lena's vast knowledge of Estonian history and cultural history.
She was informative witty and a delight.
In the end we waddled out of the last restaurant unable to have one more mouthful. So the amount of food is more than adequate.
The Highlight for me was the Sprat with quail eggs. For my wife it was the dumplings.
Most of the food that we ate was comfort food that estonian's ate throughout history which is exactly what we wanted but it might be fun to have a higher end option.
Overall if you want good food with great value this is the tour for you.
"Liine is great!"
We took this tour with our small team and it was really cool! You get to see very different places, from a small bakery to hipster places and everything in between. Liine is a wonderful guide and has a baker's diploma herself, so she loves food and cooking.
