Hannes Guide

Hannes is originally from Tallinn and now studies history in Tartu University. Barely over twenty and he has managed to do a lot. His young career has taken him from selling newspapers on a street corner to selling books in the USA, from telemarketing to being a lifeguard and now a tour guide. Hannes loves to talk about history, economy, and culture. He enjoys a good discussion and appreciates new point of view.

Hannes is a friendly guy, open and more talkative than your average Estonian. His also really into running and gets itchy when he hasn’t had a good jog in a few days. Hannes can also play the piano, seven years in a music school will make sure of that. Today the piano might be just a hobby but once young Hannes was even in a band. He refuses to say which one, so they probably weren’t famous.

"Adventures with Hannes"

What a great way to get from Riga to Tallinn! Yes, I could have taken a much quicker trip on a direct bus, but I would have missed seeing so much of the lovely countryside in Latvia and Estonia--places that are definitely off the beaten track. And I wouldn't have had half the fun I did with our charming and enthusiastic guide, Hannes, and the nice group of travelers from Brazil, Germany, the UK and Spain. From slightly rigorous forest hikes to walkabouts in historic towns to a whacky tour of the former Soviet bobsled training facilities, it was a day packed with both the fun and the serious. We also had a lovely lunch at a handsome country restaurant. Hannes was witty and good about keeping us all together. This was a great opportunity to learn tall tales and dig into the very complex history of the Baltics.

"Another side of Estonia!"

I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to explore more than just the old town of Tallinn and who is interested in the post Soviet space if Estonia. Our host Hannes was extremely knowledgeable and approachable both in respect of the tour itself and life in current Estonia. We covered a lot of ground from waterfalls to ex Soviet nuclear facilities to an authentic Russian meal to an old antonov transport plane now the headquarters of a model aircraft club. I'm only sorry that I missed the Narva trip but I intend to book that in advance when I next visit this fascinating country. Cheers Hannes and cheers to traveller tours!

"Perfect way for traveling from Tallinn to Riga"

I would like to say that this expirience was amazing. We learned a lot from Estonia country history, how they live now. Our tour guide has a lot of knowledge to share, which was really appreciated. Would definitely recommend to everyone who wants to see something more, not just a capital cities.

"Amazing tour, definitely recommend!"

Exciting day of travel between Tallinn and Riga. I am unable to remember all of the names of the locations, but enjoyed Cesis and the 1980s skeleton run track greatly! My guide Hannes was fantastic and made a real effort to bring the group together. Would definitely recommend!
